WH SelfInvest and German taxes

WH SelfInvest has been an active broker since 1998, headquartered in Luxembourg and regulated by the Luxembourg financial supervisory authority CSSF. The company focuses on active traders and investors with a range of stocks, options, futures and CFDs. WH SelfInvest uses the Interactive Brokers platform for market access.

As with all IBKR-based brokers: WH SelfInvest does not withhold German capital gains tax and does not provide an annual tax certificate according to German law. German investors must calculate their own capital gains.

BubbleTax as official WH SelfInvest partner

BubbleTax is an official partner of WH SelfInvest and is recommended as a tax solution for German customers. The collaboration was presented in a joint webinar with stock3.

All-Inclusive Service: Tax Report by Email

WH SelfInvest is the only partner offering an all-inclusive service: customers don't need to upload anything – the tax report is automatically created and delivered by email as soon as it's available. This service can be booked directly through WH SelfInvest.

Of course, WH SelfInvest customers can also use the regular route via the BubbleTax platform and upload their FlexQuery XML themselves.

How it works

Option 1 – All-inclusive via WH SelfInvest (recommended):

1. Book the service – Activate the BubbleTax tax service directly through WH SelfInvest
2. Automatic delivery – Your tax report is created and sent by email

Option 2 – Self-service via BubbleTax:

1. Export FlexQuery – Create an account statement in your WH SelfInvest/IBKR account (XML format)
2. Upload to BubbleTax – Upload the XML file
3. Get your report – Download your PDF tax report for your German tax return
